Our very own Gillian Howard recently celebrated the launch of her new book; Secrets and Lies, Tales of an Employment Lawyer. Gillian wrote the book during lockdown, looking back at some of the standout moments of her career over the past 40 years, including how she came to achieve her nickname - The Rottweiler with a Handbag.
Although Secrets and Lies, Tales of an Employment Lawyer certainly isn’t Gillian’s debut, it is the first of her books to give readers an insight into the lies and deceptions that she has faced and overcome to win many of her cases.
At her book launch in late June, LBC’s Nick Ferrari interviewed Gillian about her career and the book in front of a packed auditorium. Audience members included the former Master of the Rolls, The Lord Etherton PC KC, Lord Pannick KC, Nicholas Woolf the American Editor of the New Statesman and Matt Wolf the New Times Theatre Critic. Not to mention Laytons Employment Partners Nicholas Lakeland and Victoria Brockley, who were honoured to be invited to support Gillian.
