International litigation specialist Jeremy Lederman joins Laytons ETL as partner
Laytons ETL has appointed the multi-jurisdiction litigation specialist Jeremy Lederman as a Partner in our Disputes team.
Mr Lederman joins from the West End office of Harold Benjamin Solicitors, a firm he joined as a partner in 2015. Prior to that he was a partner and head of commercial dispute resolution at Cumberland Ellis and, following its merger with that firm, Wedlake Bell.
His practice focuses on a range of contentious commercial matters, including contractual disputes, shareholder, company and partnership disputes and debt recovery. Other specialist areas include professional negligence claims, disputes arising out of M&A and failing projects, fraud claims and judicial review/regulation.
Many of his cases have a mission-critical impact on clients and their businesses.
A significant proportion of Mr Lederman’s cases involve an international element, and he is regularly instructed by overseas or multinational clients and professional services firms. He acts for corporates, multinationals, owner-managed businesses, professionals, insolvency practitioners, trustees and individuals.
Notable cases on which he has acted include multi-jurisdictional fraud claims valued in the hundreds of millions of US dollars, joint venture disputes in the oil and property development sectors and pursuing multi-million-pound professional negligence claims.
Commenting on his move, Mr Lederman said, “As a mid-sized full-service City firm with strong international connections, Laytons ETL offers the ideal platform for me to build my practice within a talented, highly regarded disputes team.
“Laytons ETL is an active member of a number of international professional services networks, providing both the opportunity to help new clients globally and a degree of multi-jurisdictional know-how that will prove invaluable for existing clients.”
As well as Laytons ETL being a longstanding member of international networks of lawyers and professionals, it also has “best friend” relationships with firms within and outside these networks, in a variety of different jurisdictions. Mr Lederman will add to and deepen those relationships.
In 2021 the firm became part of the ETL Global network of professional services businesses. Headquartered in Essen, Germany, ETL has member firms in more than 50 different countries worldwide, employing 20,000 people.
Geraint Thomas, partner and head of the disputes team at Laytons ETL, said, “Jeremy is a hugely experienced and well-respected litigator, and I look forward to the contribution I know he will make to our team. His expertise will prove particularly valuable as we look to make the most of the opportunities that come from being part of one of the world’s largest communities of professional services firms, ETL Global.”
